On-street surveys carried out

On-street surveys have been carried out to consult members of the public on what they would like to see in the new Local Transport and Active Travel Strategy (LT&ATS) and supplementary Street Design Guide (SSDG) to improve local transport networks and streets in North Ayrshire. This is to guide the development of the new strategy and guide.

Surveys were carried out at the following locations in the week commencing 21st February 2022.

  • Irvine – 21st (AM)
  • Saltcoats – 21st (PM)
  • Beith – 22nd (AM)
  • Kilwinning – 22nd (PM)
  • Largs – 23rd (AM)

Surveys will be carried out in Brodick on the 10th March.

Members of the public were asked about current travel behaviour and whether there were any incentives or improvements to the transport network that would encourage people to change from the private car to more sustainable modes, including walking, cycling and public transport. Survey respondents were also asked about their preferred street typologies and what street design features were most important to them such as crossing points, lighting and planting.
